Cogolog is absolutely effective, besides being fun.
I used slightly 'off' words, for eg. closet instead of cabinet. This became worrisome for me so I tried some brain games (some quite pricey). No improvement. Then I found Cogolog and really did terribly at first - so tense that I didn't even read the directions correctly in the beginning. Finally I calmed down and started methodically doing the tests. I can easily get 100% now in all tests but test #2.
Lately, I've been 'working' at test #2 and now routinely get in the 80s and above.
Test #3 has been easy from the beginning.
THE POINT in this comment is that I almost never use inappropriate or slightly incorrect words anymore. My husband has noticed and has verified my self assessment.
Also, I am just sharper overall and will often do a test before I have some challenging task to accomplish.
I look forward to new 'tests' and thank you so much for the current ones. I am a RN, quite bright, and thrilled to no longer be concerned. I will keep up the exercises as I think they are so valuable. I am 70 years old.
Wish I could edit out 'quite bright' in my previous comment--intended to make the point that the 'tests' weren't silly games, but reasonably difficult.
